Martin Johnstone is a Church of Scotland minister and secretary of the Church of Scotland’s Church & Society Council, a role he took up in February 2015.
The Council engages in the national, political and social issues facing Scotland and the wider world on behalf of the Church. It has a specific commitment to do this through the lens and experience of the poorest and most marginalised.
For the previous 15 years, Martin was the Church of Scotland’s Priority Areas Secretary and a founding director of Faith in Community Scotland. He has been involved in the work of the Poverty Truth Commission and continues to support the development of new commissions across the UK. He is involved in a range of local and national agencies. If you were to ask him what gets him out of bed in the morning, it would be a belief that a better world is possible and a passion to play his small part in making that belief a reality.
