Research Development Worker
I work part-time and my particular focus is on ensuring that the views and ideas of Commissioners are directly shared with those in government or civil society whose policies impact on the lives of people affected by poverty.
I was previously a social worker and prior to that a residential care worker. I have long had a passion for anti-poverty work including three years in the 1990s as chairperson of a Glasgow based anti-poverty charity. Currently, I volunteer one day a week with Bridging the Gap in Gorbals. For many years I have been actively involved as an office bearer of a church in Gorbals.
I am married with three boys. Life at home is good and not uneventful. I enjoy football (sharing with my boys the usual agony and occasional ecstasy of supporting Scotland!!), table tennis, films and keeping up to date with current affairs.
