Who Volunteers With Faith in Throughcare?

Faith in Throughcare volunteers come from all walks of life, and have varied life experiences, some are students looking to gain relevant experience, and an understanding of the justice system, others wish to turn their own personal experience of being in prison into a tool to help others. Some simply come from communities where they see large numbers of people returning from short prison sentences and wish to provide support.

Full training is provided in the form of 30 hours  of group based learning, delivered 1 day a week over six/seven weeks. Following this the volunteer would then complete a minimum of 10 hours on the job shadowing. Our volunteers are required to register in the Scheme for work with Vulnerable Adults – PVG. We have a member of staff supporting volunteers on-going as they help participants.

If you wish to support people returning from prison and can do so with patience, compassion and a person centered approach that recognises and builds on people’s strengths we’d love to hear from you
