Welcome to Faith in Community Scotland |
Our organisation was established in August 2005 and, since then, we have been active in making a real difference in many of the economically poorest communities in Scotland.
We currently have ten staff working in Glasgow – Scotland’s poorest and most religiously mixed city – and have ambitious plans over the next period to develop additional work in Dundee, in offering support to ex-offenders and their families, and in the development of an Interfaith Storytelling Centre in Glasgow’s Govanhill.
Our Board of Directors is a dynamic team brought together from across the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh communities with a huge level of experience within the public, private and voluntary sectors as well as a genuine passion to tackle poverty.
Faith communities and individual people of faith already make a massive and positive contribution to the life of Scotland every year. Our desire is to support and harness some of that energy in order that we can achieve even more.
We are about tackling the consequences of poverty, empowering local people, taking sides and working in partnership.
I hope that you will enjoy reading these pages, and that of our sister website www.transformationteam.org, and that you will feel able to support our passion for a fairer, more just Scotland for everyone.
Martin Johnstone
Executive Director.
